Position Summary

Under general supervision, this position performs tasks to aid in the support of workflow, degree audit, web registration, and various web delivered services specific to WCU’s student information system (Banner). This position also authors and publishes SQL reports for users within the office and for the campus community. Primary duties: assist office staff as it relates to technical processing within the Banner/Student Information System, On-Base document imaging system and Series 25 Rooms & Events system. Tests and troubleshoots application functionality. Creates and publishes database queries using TOAD, SQL and Visual Studio Software. Validates data. Develops and execute plans sufficient to validate functionality related to system upgrades. Must have the ability to work well and interact with others; ability to work as part of a team.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position

This position also requires the following: communication, management, leadership skills and experience: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well and interact with others. Ability to work as part of a team. Leadership skills and demonstrated initiative to resolve problems/requests. Project management skills. Ability to handle special projects. Experience with instructional syllabus and documentation development. Position requires the knowledge of Banner, TOAD, AppWorks, Visual Studio, Oracle databases, SQL, PL/SQL, MS Report Server, Query Analyzer, Resource & Schedule 25, Data Warehouse, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the positions’ role. Computer coursework may be substituted year for year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from high school and one year of experience in the field of technology with an emphasis in application testing or application/system administration. Coursework in computer applications or information technology may be substituted year for year for the required experience. Demonstrated skills in one or more programming or query languages. Knowledge, skills & ability in developing SQL database queries (Oracle preferred). Experience with Microsoft Power Tools, Microsoft Office Suite is also a plus. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field and one year of related experience.
